She also completed the Education Specialist program at The George Washington University in 2001. She is an ordained minister, a certified professional coach and educational consultant. She maintains affiliations with the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, the Virginia Education Association, Business Network International, Peninsula Women's Network, and Maven. Additionally, Dr. Sessoms-Penny serves as a mentor for Troops to Teachers and is an online faculty member and facilitator for two notable universities. Dr. Sessoms-Penny is a military veteran and retired member of the United States Air Force.
