S. June Presnell Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Biblical Counseling
S. June Presnell included in Top Industry Experts book

GREENWOOD, IN, October 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- S. June Presnell, Associate Director, Counselor and Co-Founder of Rod and Staff Ministries, was recently featured in Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts book. The Top Industry Experts reveals the objectives and triumphs prominent Cambridge members have achieved to gain success. Selected from more than 400,000 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, these exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.

In an effort to maintain a rotation of people helping others, Sharon June Presnell co-founded Rod and Staff Ministries, a biblical training and counseling center. For more than 10 years, Ms. Presnell has been the associate director and a counselor, helping to train and equip pastors, missionaries, church leaders, and congregation members to provide biblical counseling in their churches. Even though the organization has a small staff, they work together to provide all sorts of counseling needs to several types of people. "We have people who come from all different walks of life — from pastors and corporate leaders to those who don't have a job [at all]," says Ms. Presnell.

Rod and Staff Ministries offers five levels of training, which include learning and processing principles, observing biblical counseling, and assisting and leading in biblical counseling. Ms. Presnell's belief is in the sufficiency of Jesus Christ and his word for solving problems in life. Therefore, her training and counseling is based on sound principles derived from the Bible, the Holy Spirit and prayer instead of psychological methods. However, Ms. Presnell stresses that their counselors do not work against physicians and would never tell someone that they did not need a specific medicine they were taking. The counselors do collaborate with local pastors if their client is connected to a church and if they are not, try to plug them into a Bible-teaching church. Since many pastors are not trained in counseling, Ms. Presnell's goal is to provide this service in all churches for those who choose to receive it. "We try to work with the community," she says.

In 1989 Ms. Presnell earned a bachelor's degree in personal and group communication from Trinity University. She remains up-to-date in her field through her membership with The National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. Because of her interest in painting with watercolors, pastels and acrylics, she is also affiliated with the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the International Museum of Art Alliance. Besides painting, in her free time she also enjoys reading and writing.
