Barbara Fairchild Gramm Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Authorship
Barbara Fairchild Gramm, proudly descended from historical figures, has an infinite wellspring from which she draws material for her books

WOODBURY, MN, November 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Fairchild Gramm, Owner and Manager of Pig's Eye Press, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in authorship.

Barbara Fairchild Gramm is the author of "And You Think You've Got It Bad," a hilarious historical book that chronicles 19th-century life and housekeeping. Published by Pig's Eye Press and illustrated with old advertisements and drawings, the book aims to instruct and entertain readers, as well as provide a sharp and humorous contrast to our present "push-button world."

Ms. Gramm has also been publishing her work through her own company, Pig's Eye Press, since 1992. Proudly descended from a number of prominent historical figures, she has an infinite wellspring from which she draws material. She is a great-granddaughter of Alfred B. Brackett, who gave his name to Brackett's Battalion, which saw action with the Minnesota Cavalry during the Civil and Indian Wars. A U.S. Marshal later in his career, Mr. Brackett held the distinction of escorting the Younger brothers, members of the notorious James-Younger Gang, to Stillwater Prison. Ms. Gramm was given possession of many of his personal effects, including his Bible, journal, sword, furniture and silverware, which she has since parceled out to her children and grandchildren. While researching her family tree, she discovered that she is a 13th-generation direct descendant of John and Priscilla Alden, two of the Mayflower's original passengers. Delighted to share her family's history with readers, Ms. Gramm attributes the success that she has enjoyed as an author and a publisher to her enthusiasm, determination, optimism and sense of humor.

An active supporter of various causes, Ms. Gramm serves as a patient advocate at Woodwinds Hospital and volunteers regularly with Woodbury and Peaceful Grove United Methodist Church, God's Closet and Wesley Meals. In 2003, she joined a missionary trip to Robin's Nest, Jamaica, where she cared for abused and abandoned children. She continues to support the Robin's Nest Orphanage.
