RICHMOND, VA, November 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William M. Buchanan Jr., Logistics Management Specialist for USACASOM, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in logistics management and graphic design.

Mr. Buchanan graduated in 1969 from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in graphic design, and earned, in 1974, a Master of Science (MS) in Community Development. He served two years active duty and ten years reserve time with the United States Army. For over thirty years, Mr. Buchanan has worked with the federal government in a design capacity. He began this career after spending several years in the private sector of advertising, arts and crafts, packaging, and graphic design. His first federal assignment was at Fort Knox, KY; he served as a visual information specialist and focused on designing field manuals. After some time, he moved into the logistics field.

He has spent the most recent years of his career as a logistics management specialist for USACASOM, where he writes and edits army publications, such as field manuals, for the government and military personnel. He is a contracting officer representative (COR), handling contracting efforts for the Doctrine Department, and a property book officer (PBO), managing computer and furniture property.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Buchanan is a good friend of the arts. He is a board member of the Southside Virginia Council of the Arts (SVCA), the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra (PSO), and the Petersburg alumni chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Within the next few years, Mr. Buchanan plans to retire from his government work, and venture back into the fine art field.
