Marti C. Garrels, MSA, MT, CMA Honored for Accomplishments in Higher Education

KIRKLAND, WA, December 8, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marti C. Garrels, Author and Medical Assisting Program Coordinator at Lake Washington Technical College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

Ms. Garrels has been teaching for over 35 years and retains an expertise in medical assisting education and laboratory medicine. Since 2007, she has been the program coordinator for Lake Washington Technical College's medical assisting program. In her position she supervises over 100 students in the AAMA accredited program. Ms. Garrels is also an author, who has recently published her second book Laboratory Testing for Ambulatory Settings 2ed., Elsevier 2011. She attributes her success to her passion for her work and students.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Ms. Garrels received a Master of Science in Administration. She received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Michigan State University. She is a member of AAMA, AFT and ASCP. She has been awarded Teacher of the Year and Master Teacher awards, and has served on the National Educator Task Force for the American Association of Medical Assistants. In five years, she intends to teach part time, travel, and continue to consult nationwide.
