Nancy A. Draper Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Nancy A. Draper is the author of "A Burden of Silence: My Mother's Battle with AIDS"

BRIDGTON, ME, March 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy A. Draper has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in writing.

Nancy A. Draper has been a nonfiction freelance writer since 1981 when she published "How Faith, Love, and Laughter Lighten My Burdens" in Toronto, Canada. In 2004, she wrote her first book, "A Burden of Silence: My Mother's Battle with AIDS," a heartfelt account about her 66-year-old mother's battle with HIV after she was infected through a tainted blood transfusion during heart bypass surgery. Several of Nancy's nonfiction short stories have been published in the United States, Canada, and Italy.

Nancy Draper has appeared on television and radio, and has spoken publicly at high schools and libraries about her writing career and the AIDS pandemic. For several years, she has been involved with the NAMES Project AIDS Quilt Display, which features a panel made by Nancy for her mother containing the message "It hurts to know you suffered in silence." The quilt has been displayed in many cities throughout the world and Mrs. Draper hopes her message will help end the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. Through her writing and speeches, she wishes to make a difference in the world by helping others; especially those who are going through difficult circumstances.

Prior to establishing her writing career, Nancy Draper taught fourth grade students for several years before embarking on a 26-year career as a piano teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Keene State College in 1969. She is married and the mother of two adult sons. In 2009, she was honored with a second place award for a short published memoir by the National League of American Pen Women, of which she is a member. She attributes her success to her perseverance and resourcefulness, as well as a deep desire to help people cope with adversity. Currently, she is working on her next book as well as a screenplay.
