Füsun Atalay Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Creative Writing
Füsun Atalay published a book chronicling her experiences as a Turkish immigrant
BROSSARD, CANADA, April 6, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Füsun Atalay, Author with the Professional Writers Association of Canada, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in creative writing.
An educator for 30 years, Füsun Atalay has parlayed her experience in the academe into a successful second career as an author. She currently writes articles for newspapers and magazines as a card-carrying member of the PWAC, an organization that represents professional freelance writers of Canada. Also a novelist, Ms. Atalay published "Will of My Own," a memoir chronicling her migration from Turkey and the physical and emotional journeys that she undertook in the process. She worked as an English Language Arts teacher at Centennial Regional High School prior to embarking on her writing career. She attributes her successful transition to her ability to teach and communicate.
Ms. Atalay received her bachelor of arts and education in secondary education from McGill University and is a certified consumer and home economics teacher. Her professional affiliations include the Quebec Writers' Federation, the Canadian Freeslance Union, and the English-Language Arts Network. When she is not working, Ms. Atalay volunteers as a teacher and moderator for Writers in Electronic Residence or as a docent volunteer at the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology in St. John, Newfoundland. In five years, she aspires to have a novel on The New York Times bestseller list.
