Beverly J. Neatrour, RN Distinguished for Excellence in Creative Therapy
Beverly J. Neatrour is Cambridge Publishing's Professional of the Year for 2009/2010

PITTSFORD, NY, May 7, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Beverly J. Neatrour, RN of The Journaling Connection, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in creative therapy.

In 1997, Beverly J. Neatrour was honored with the Mother of the Year Award by President Clinton. During the ceremony he commented, "She has led a life few could have imagined, yet she has triumphed and we all need to learn from her strength." Indeed, Mrs. Neatrour has led a simultaneously tumultuous and fulfilling life. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she is a breast cancer survivor and a mother of three disabled children. Mrs. Neatrour notes that she is driven by her determined nature and uncanny ability to overcome adversity. It is through those character traits that she has lead a fruitful 30-year career in psychiatric nursing and creative therapy.

For the past three years, Mrs. Neatrour has delved into therapeutic journaling, quickly becoming a leading expert in the field. She works with seniors as well as disabled children and adults to organize memoirs and foster creative thinking and writing skills for the purposes of relaxation and emotional release. She holds a certification from the Center for Journal Therapy and maintains active involvement with the Association of Memoir Writers and the Center for Autobiographic Studies.

Mrs. Neatrour's efforts have her led her to receive honors from a variety of organizations. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Adult Scholar Award from the Rochester Area College Continuing Education Committee in 1987 and was presented with the Faculty Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Nursing by Monroe Community College. Most recently, she was named Professional of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who for the 2009/2010 year.

Mrs. Neatrour holds an Applied Associate of Science in Nursing from Monroe Community College, earned in 1987. She is an affiliate of the National Nurses in Business Association, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the American Holistic Nurses' Association, the Greater Rochester Branch of the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters, the National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
