Liza E. Martinez Recognized for Excellence in Education
Liza E. Martinez is pursuing a doctoral degree in literacy at Northern Arizona University
SOMERTON, AZ, August 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Liza E. Martinez, Professor of English as a Second Language for Arizona Western College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
At Arizona Western College, Ms. Martinez instructs English as a second language courses to adults. She educates students in grammar, reading, writing, speaking and pronunciation. She attributes her success to the support she receives from her family.
Formerly, Ms. Martinez spent four years employed at The American School of Kinshasa, located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. During the region's civil war, she was one of the few educators to remain, promoting cultural understanding and teaching English as a second language. She was honored with a certificate of appreciation for her work with the United States Embassy's English Language Institute in Kinshasa.
Ms. Martinez is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Literacy at Northern Arizona University. At The University of New Mexico, she received a post-master's education specialist certification in curriculum and instruction, as well as a master's degree in political science. Ms. Martinez is a member of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. and the National Reading Council.
