Helen Delich Bentley has achieved numerous national and international honors and awards, including 10 honorary doctorates

LUTHERVILLE TIMONIUM, MD, September 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen Delich Bentley, President, Chief Executive Officer of Helen Bentley & Associates, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in administrative operations.

With 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Bentley serves as the president and chief executive officer of Helen Bentley & Associates, Inc. Specializing in government relations and business development, she takes responsibility in assisting with businesses involved with Maryland's base realignment and closure process, partnering with state and local governments and regional agencies, resolving interjurisdictional planning and regulatory issues, and consulting for the Maryland Port Administration. Helen Bentley & Associates, Inc. provides business development and government relations consultation services. Prior to joining the organization, she worked as a maritime reporter and editor for The Baltimore Sun and as a chairwoman for the United States Federal Maritime Commission (1985-1995).

Ms. Bentley received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Missouri, with honors, in 1944. She started her career as a reporter and editor and eventually moved into television and acted as a reporter, director, editor and producer for her own series, "The Port That Built a City," from 1969 to 1975. She has decades of experience in managing interference and solving problems for in-state, national and international clients. In addition, she has christened 16 American flag ships. The Governor of Maryland, Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. announced that the Port of Baltimore would be renamed as Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore, and she is known as "Mother of the Port." She served in the United States House of Representatives, representing Maryland's second Congressional District. While in Congress, she sat on the appropriations, budget, public works and transportation and merchant marine and fisheries committees, in addition to the steel, art, northeast, human rights and trade and tourism caucuses. She was a former congresswoman, chairwoman of the United States Federal Maritime Commission and longtime port advocate. She was the fourth-highest ranking woman in the history of federal government of the United States. In the future, she intends to continue consulting and specializing in government relations and business development.
