Calvin Dirickson Showcases his Versatile Writing Style through Heartwarming Tales—and a Dark Memoir
After publishing three children's novels, Mr. Dirickson reveals the hardship he endured in "Purple Robin," his first autobiography
PALM GARDENS, NV, November 8, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Calvin B. Dirickson, Author, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in writing.
Like a purple robin, Mr. Dirickson is a rare species of a man. The tribulations of his life, from growing up in a poverty-stricken town to enduring visions of disaster and losing his wife to leukemia when she was only 25 years old, have shaped his life and outlook, and are unmasked in an autobiography, entitled "Purple Robin." The fourth book Mr. Dirickson has published, it is the first memoir he has crafted. His previous publications are the educational and entertaining children's book "Adventures of Ms. Kelly in Tallahassee" and its sequels, "Adventures of Ms. Kelly in Miami," and "Adventures of Ms. Kelly in Nevada." The stories follow the journey of Mr. Dirickson's extremely intelligent apricot toy poodle, through her eyes. Critically praised by the Writers Literary Publishing and Service Company, Mr. Dirickson has proved his ability to excel in two distinct genres of writing.
Although Mr. Dirickson took writing classes as a young man, he did not become an author until he retired from a 51-year career. Establishing himself as an active member of the U.S. Navy, he spent two years in a pilot training squadron in Corpus Christi before serving two years in the Fleet Intelligence Unit in Europe. Following his tenure in the military, he worked for The Florida State University, where he began as a clerk and achieved numerous promotions; in his final position, he worked with the financial aid management team. Despite never obtaining a college degree, Mr. Dirickson enjoyed a gratifying career that allowed him to become successful while raising two children and seeing them through their own master's degrees. Looking forward, Mr. Dirickson intends to continue writing and publishing books.
