MARYLAND, December 24, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David Kyle, Maryland resident for many years, is proud to announce that he's developing a series of talks on his research. While he is technically in retirement at the moment, Dr. David Kyle still feels drawn to the research he did during his successful career, and he hopes his talks will help him explain the work he has done.
In the mid-1980s in Maryland, Dr. David Kyle was part of a team that discovered certain important nutritional fatty acids in algae. "Previously, this compound, DHA, had been found in breast milk we thought it was significant in the neurological development of the growing infant," says David Kyle. "Finding it in another natural source meant that we could produce it in large quantities, and perhaps we could give babies that drink formula a better chance at long-term mental health."
Since that time, the compounds Dr. David Kyle found in Maryland have been shown to benefit adults as well as babies. Dr. David Kyle discusses this fact at length in his talks. Dr. Kyle says, "I have seen firsthand how important DHA is in both babies and adults, and I continue to try to spread the word so more people can benefit."
In the summer of 2010, Dr. David Kyle gave a talk in Gualala, California called "Health and Fatty Oils," that outlined his research and Martek Biosciences Corp, the company he co-founded in Maryland. Dr. Kyle provided specific examples of how DHA was discovered, and the work he had to do to develop a technology for the commercial production and use of DHA.
"This was a wonderful opportunity for me to talk about my work in front of a group of interested people," says Dr. David Kyle. "I am accustomed to talking to doctors, so talking to the public at large was a bit unusual. I found I really liked the format, and I'm hoping to provide more talks like this in the future."
